چکیده

Abstract In-cylinder expansion of internal combustion engines based on Diesel or Otto cycles cannot be completely brought down to ambient pressure, causing a 20% theoretical energy loss. Several systems have been implemented recover and use this such as turbocharging, turbomechanical turbo-electrical compounding, the implementation Miller cycles. In all these cases however, amount recovered is limited allowing engine reach an overall efficiency incremental improvement between 4% 9%. Implementing adequately designed expander–generator unit could efficiently unexpanded exhaust gas improve efficiency. work, application hybrid propulsion vehicle considered, where onboard storage receives power produced by expander–generator, which hence employed for through electric drivetrain. Starting from considerations, simple but effective modeling approach used evaluate energetic potential spark-ignition (SI) electrically supercharged equipped with expander connected generator. The was compared reference turbocharged within architecture. It found that, if recovered, reduce fuel consumption related pollutant emissions 4–12%, depending output.

Effect of electrode erosion on the required ignition voltage of spark plug in CNG spark ignition engine

In this article, the electrode erosion and the gap growth of spark plugs were measured on of a CNG fueled engine after durability tests. Then, the required ignition voltage and the spark quality were investigated by a spark plug test rig. Considering results of measurements, the gap growth increased as the running time increased. Thus, the gap growth of spark plugs with 200 and 280 hours runnin...

Antilock Regenerative Braking System Design for a Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Hybrid electric vehicles employ a hydraulic braking system and a regenerative braking system together to provide enhanced braking performance and energy regeneration. In this paper an integrated braking system is proposed for an electric hybrid vehicle that include a hydraulic braking system and a regenerative braking system which is functionally connected to an electric traction motor. In the ...

A Genetic-Fuzzy Control Strategy for Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are driven by two energy convertors, i.e., an Internal Combustion (IC) engine and an electric machine. To make powertrain of HEV as efficient as possible, proper management of the energy elements is essential. This task is completed by HEV controller, which splits power between the IC engine and Electric Motor (EM). In this paper, a Genetic-Fuzzy control strategy...

Cylinder Pressure in a Spark - Ignition Engine : A Computational Model

an s-curve to describe the gradual transition between exhaust pressure and intake or inlet pressure. The start of compression, which marks the end of the intake process, does not necessarily occur at the same time as the close of the intake valve (IVC). The intake valve closes after bottom center (BC) while the volume in the cylinder is decreasing. The engine speed determines the point at which...

Nonperiodic oscillations of Pressure in a SPARK Ignition Combustion Engine

We report our results on non-periodic experimental time series of pressure in a spark ignition engine. The experiments were performed for a low rotational velocity of a crankshaft and a relatively large spark advance angle. We show that the combustion process has many chaotic features. Surprisingly, the reconstructed attractor has a characteristic butterfly shape similar to a chaotic attractor ...
